Our Coalition

Who We Are

The Model School Network (MSN) was launched in 2014 to enable sustained, cross-sector collaboration among a range of Haitian and international partners with complementary expertise and resources and a shared vision of change.

By identifying strategic leverage points for improving student success in three different school networks in Haiti’s Central Plateau – where academic performance indicators are among the lowest and schools embody the challenges facing the broader educational system – the MSN intends to create model approaches for quality teaching, learning and governance that can be replicated anywhere in Haiti.

The Coalition focuses on lab schools that are part of 3 distinct school networks:

  • EFACAP-Mirebalais – 22 Nationally-supported schools in the Lower Plateau
  • Diocesan Bureau of Education-Hinche – 139 Catholic schools throughout Hinche and Mirebalais
  • Summits Education – 39 community schools in the Lower Plateau

Our Vision

Students throughout Haiti gain the knowledge, skills and behaviors they need to thrive as the result of positive, safe and stimulating learning environments and a culture of shared responsibility for educational outcomes.

Our Mission

Support continuous improvement within Haiti’s educational system by engaging in cross-network incubation in Haiti’s Central Plateau to co-create evidence-based model approaches to critical quality and governance challenges and promoting their replication at scale through a dynamic community of practice and focused advocacy.

Our Commitment

Identify a portfolio of high-value teaching and governance practices and policies that enable students to succeed and scale them within participating school networks so that by 2030, at least 75% of all MSN schools have an average promotion rate of 75% for Grades 1-6.
